The Women in Government Relations (WGR) Toastmasters Club focuses on creating a comfortable and encouraging environment for women to practice their public speaking and leadership skills. Club meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month in Washington, DC. Guests are always welcome!
Our club helps its members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. Each meeting provides opportunities to practice:
In Toastmasters, members build leadership skills by organizing and conducting meetings and motivating others to help them. Club leadership roles and a leadership development program offer opportunities to build leadership skills. Just as members of Toastmasters learn to speak simply by speaking, they learn leadership by leading.
Members may join Toastmasters to sharpen their professional skills but they return to our club meetings because it is FUN! Our members participate in regional contests and networking events. The typical club meeting includes lots of laughter and sincere encouragement. We truly care about the success and happiness of each member of our close-knit club.
Toastmasters currently has more than 200,000 members in 80 countries. Our club is just one of the more than 10,000 clubs located around the world. For membership meeting information, please see our membership information page. You wont regret it!
